MartinPatrick3 is my favorite store on the planet. The first time I walked in, I didn't want to leave. It offers an experience like no other, and plenty of products to make you smile! In Minneapolis we all miss Dayton's and the warm-hearted window displays. But the team at MP3 came together to give us a taste of the memories with these stunning windows! And guess what? Part of the team that worked on these windows started their careers at Dayton's! But the best part, is MP3 kept the spirit of the Nutcracker going this year by featuring the costumes in their windows when the show couldn't go on due to Covid. Fabulous show of community spirit. BRAVO MP3!

For 55 years, Minnesota Dance Theatre has presented a magical production of Loyce Houlton’s Nutcracker Fantasy. With the brilliant choreographic storytelling of founder Loyce Houton set to Tchaikovsky’s sumptuous score, with dazzling sets and one of a kind costumes, a tradition was born. The ballet has become so ubiquitous that any local kid who ever donned dance slippers has almost certainly been a mouse, snowflake, flower or tin soldier at some point.

Amid all restrictions that Covid has placed upon all of us, the theater and stage remain dark, the costumes were destined to hang lifeless for a season, the orchestra music of Tchaikovsky silent, and the joy generations have shared experiencing the Loyce Houlton’s Nutcracker Fantasy would have to be propelled forward to 2021. But wait, traditions must prevail, the show must go on!

The Twin Cities community and beyond will once again celebrate this emblematic and popular holiday production of 55 years, in a stylish way for a first time collaboration with MARTINPATRICK3 of the North Loop. In a clever pairing of old and new, Greg Walsh, Principal at MP3, and his team, bring the street-side windows to life weaving original Nutcracker costumes with apparel from MP3’s bespoke collections, reigniting memories of performances and holidays past.

Lise Houlton, MDT’s Artistic Director stated: “Our treasured costumes are without dancers this year, but it will be a special event indeed to see them alive with magic and imagination this holiday season, in the windows of MP3.”
